Band-Saw
Status : Bench Tested
A power tool that uses a continuous loop of flexible steel band with teeth stretched between two wheels to cut wood. It excels at re-sawing thick lumber, cutting curves, and making quick rough cuts.

My Workbench Note: First Encounter
The band-saw was actually the very first stationary power tool I encountered when I stepped into the workshop. Coming from an IT background where tools are virtual, standing in front of this large machine with a continuous blade running at high speed was both thrilling and a bit intimidating! Watching how easily it glided through thick hardwood compared to my hand saws immediately opened my eyes to how much time power tools save during rough milling.
Over time, I’ve developed a real appreciation for this machine. While a high-speed continuous blade can certainly look intimidating at first glance, I’ve found it to be one of the most versatile and reliable tools in the entire workshop.
